Masters of squash coming to Wolverhampton
Following the success of squash at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) where team England won 5 medals and it’s first women’s singles Gold, WLTSC are hosting another prestigious squash competition – A Regional Squash Masters event. These events give squash players the opportunity to play competitive squash in age categories from O35 to O75 for men and O35 to O60 for women. They also give tournament winners with enough points from these regional events, the opportunity to play for England in the Home Internationals; so, you can expect high level competitive matches throughout the weekend!
Mike Harris, Head of Squash & Racketball at WLT&SC, previous winner of the O45 Masters category and who has also played for England in the Home Internationals, says “I am excited that WLTSC are hosting this event and looking forward to welcoming players from all over the UK. Many of our own club members have entered in the various age categories so we hope for home wins but most importantly, everyone enjoys the tournament!
I also hope that showcasing high level, club squash, will inspire our juniors to be CWG medallists of the future through our junior programme, as well as people who may have watched the sport at #B2022 to come along to watch and maybe start playing at our various beginners & improver classes“.
Squash players can enter here. Closing date for entries is 21st October, with the tournament taking place Friday 4th November, Saturday 5th November, with multiple finals on 6th November 2022.
